Cross Effect Purpose:

Cross Effect Men’s Ministry exists to build up and unite men around activities and relationships with each other and Jesus Christ.

1 Kings 2:2-3

“Be strong, and show yourself a man, and keep the charge of the LORD your God, walking in His ways and keeping His statutes, His commandments, His rules, and His testimonies…”

Cross Effect Mission:

The mission of the Men’s Ministry at Palmyra Grace Brethren is to:

  • Build up, encourage, strengthen, and sharpen our men through a deeper personal relationship with Jesus Christ.

  • To unite men in Bible study, prayer, ministry, fellowship, evangelism and accountability.

  • To promote mentoring opportunities that lead to significant vital relationships.

Vision of a “Cross Effect” Man

A man who is on guard, standing firm in the faith, courageous, and strong.  A steadfast man who does everything in love, walking securely in his integrity.  A humble man devoted to others with brotherly love, desiring to both sharpen and be sharpened by other men.  A man willing to stand up and proclaim… “As for me and my house, we will serve the LORD!”

Values of a “Cross Effect” Man

A man of faith.

Faith is trusting and obeying God, despite our circumstances.  We have faith in Him alone. Faith breeds faithfulness and forms the backbones of our lives.

Heb 11:6;   Hab 2:4; Matt 25:11

A humble man, not proud.

Accepting ourselves as we really are before God.  God does not take a man to great heights without first walking him through the darkness of the valley.

1 Peter 5:6;     Matt 18:4

A man pure in heart.

Is fully devoted to loving God with every part of his life. He has a singular heart which disregards distractions which call him away from his main mission: to supremely love God. With God’s grace, a pure heart is possible.

Matt 5:8;  1 John 3:1-3;  John 1:12-13

A man content with what God has given him.

He rises above cynicism and materialism, he is fully content with God himself and finds his chief delight in the person and presence of God.

1 Tim 6:6

A man who is a lover of the Word.

He diligently reads it every day, studies it, delights in it, meditates on it, prefers it, loves its reproof and counsel, talks about it, hides it, defends it and prefers it above other things most precious, whether written or preached and it’s promises are all sweetness and marrow to him.

Jer 1:8; Ps 119:11, Ps 119: 97; Job 23:12; Acts 17:11, Col 3:16; 2 Tim. 4:7, Rom 7:9

A man who is honest, keeping his word and vows.

Breaking oaths and vows is a clear violation of not loving our neighbor. Our words will reveal the true intention of our hearts.

Matt 5:33-7

A man walking in integrity and truth.

Unrelenting commitment to the understanding and practice of being like Jesus Christ as shown through the Word of God.

Psalm 85:10-11; Titus 1:1; Psalm 119:104

A man fearing God, not man.

The fear of God is that awesome reverence of the LORD deriving from being sensitive to His glorious, holy and majestic Person resulting in respect and obedience.

Romans 13:7; 1 Peter 2:17; 1 John 4:17-19; Rom 8:15

A man who pursues righteousness, not compromise.

Righteous living is 100% obedience. God does not ask us to be perfect, but He does ask us not to sin.

Prov 15:9, Prov 21:21,  1 Tim 6:11,  2 Tim 2:22, 1 John 1:8-10

A man who is patient in bearing trials and waits upon the Lord.

Waiting upon God is exercising confidence in God’s timing and help during difficult times, and not in my own resources. Waiting protects us, deepens our trust in Him, forces us to seek His ways and brings Him the most glory.

Isaiah 40:31; James 1:2-4

A man who is holy in his life and eternally-minded man.

His treasure is in heaven, and he lives unspotted from the world.

Col 3:1-3; 1 Pet 2:11-12; Heb 12:14

A man of love, not lust.

A Godly man will not even commit adultery in His heart.

Matt 5:27-28; 1 Cor 16:13-14

A man who lives to bring the most glory to God.

Rather than live for Himself, his life revolves around the glory of God and doing the will of His Father in Heaven.

Gal 2:20; Matt 7:21

A man that is gentle, not angry.

It is wrong to have rage or anger, or to breed spite or hate or show arrogance against people, but rather we are to love our neighbors.

Matt 5:21-22

A man forgiving not bitter.

If we love, we will not carry out our own vengeance, nor insist on our rights but rather will look for opportunities to forgive.

Matt 5:38-39

A man who loves the lost enough to share the gospel.

If lost people matter to God, then they should matter to us. We will share the gospel in life and words so that all may come to repentance.

John 3:16-17; II Peter 3:9; Philemon 6
